One-of-a-Kind 194 – Tree Sculpture Made of Ancient Kauri with Preserved Growth Rings
A unique collector's item that is part table, part wall sculpture, and part tree-like form
Unikat 194 preserves the natural silhouette of a millennia-old ancient kauri tree in a single monumental formation. The 350-cm-long slab emerges from a broad root zone and tapers along the original trunk axis.
This allows the tree's natural form to remain visible. The piece functions not only as a table, but also as a wall sculpture, a three-dimensional sculpture, and a one-of-a-kind collector's item with an extraordinary presence.

A sculptural collector's item that blends functional art, studio furniture, and collectible design, with the unique number 194.

Uniqueness Through Mature Tree Architecture
Root and Trunk in a Legible Form
What makes this piece unique is its unusually well-preserved tree line. The broad root base opens up like a natural origin, while the form transitions along the trunk into a calm vertical movement.
This clarity of the original tree structure is found in only a very few ancient kauri formations. It makes the piece a unique, one-of-a-kind work and gives it a spatial impact that goes far beyond the function of a table.

Sculptural collectible featuring a tree silhouette
Uniqueness Derived from the Visibility of the Original Tree
Thanks to its natural tree-like shape, this piece is suitable not only as a collectible dining table or executive table.
The piece can also be viewed as a freestanding wall or room sculpture. When displayed upright, it resembles an exposed tree trunk and evokes the impression of a museum-quality room sculpture. Its dual interpretation as both a functional object and a sculptural collector’s item makes Unikat 194 exceptional within the Beaupoil collection.

A design object that can be appreciated from both sides
Collectible Furniture with two separate views
The installation can be viewed and experienced from both sides. The way the work is perceived changes depending on the viewer's perspective.
From one perspective, the archaic appearance of the solid wood, with extensive amber inclusions, dominates. From the opposite side, the tranquil root-trunk form stands out more prominently. This creates two distinct spatial appearances within the same collector’s item.
A Rare Landscape of Materials
Amber-colored areas, tree edges, and naturally formed topography
In the root zone, the material condenses into an exceptionally complex landscape of grain patterns, amber-colored areas, and naturally formed tree edges.
The surface does not appear to have been designed, but rather uncovered. Textures, indentations, and natural transitions follow the tree’s original growth pattern, creating a sense of depth that extends across the entire formation.
Documented Origin
Radiocarbon-dated precious wood from New Zealand
A scientific age certificate is available for the ancient kauri slab. The radiocarbon-dated sample indicates an age of approximately 41,000 years.
Beaupoil personally selected the subfossil precious wood in New Zealand, and it was then crafted in his studio in Germany. In this way, documented provenance is combined with artisanal craftsmanship and the rarity of a finite material.

Available Collectible
