Unikat 150 - Collectible Dining Table as a Functional Work of Art
A collector's item with picturesque visual appeal
Unikat 150 is a large-format, sculptural dining table crafted from subfossil Ancient Kauri wood featuring visible amber, natural root sections, and exceptional grain. The 205 × 105 cm tabletop, 7 cm thick, showcases the wood’s natural depth across its entire surface and combines collectible design, functional art, and a striking spatial presence.

A one-of-a-kind dining table for architecturally designed living spaces and collections.

Visual Spaces Created by Nature
Subfossil root plate with exceptional grain
The slab, crafted entirely from a natural root structure, features an exceptionally dense and dynamic grain that resembles an organic landscape across its entire surface. Flow-like patterns, dark resin zones, and inlaid amber areas create a unique sense of depth that is more reminiscent of a large-scale art object than a traditional tabletop.
The areas stabilized with epoxy resin provide a deeper view into the interior of the material and reveal the panel's three-dimensional effect.

Functional Art
A sculptural dining table that blends collectible design with a collector's item
Unikat 150 functions not only as a dining table but also as a standalone spatial object with a sculptural presence. The organic unity of the root lends the piece a natural visual structure with an almost painterly character.
The understated stainless steel frame is deliberately kept in the background so that the natural visual impact of the root base takes center stage. The result is a sculptural collector’s item that bridges the gap between functional art, collectible furniture, and handcrafted collectibles.

Enhanced Visual Impact
Uniqueness achieved through the picturesque depth of texture created by millennia-old root structures
The exceptionally dense grain of this functional collector’s item did not result from human design, but rather developed within a root structure that grew over millennia. Amber zones, resin veins, and organic patterns form a naturally created visual world whose depth and expressiveness can scarcely be reproduced artificially. The craftsmanship in the studio reveals this natural beauty and transforms it into a sculptural collector’s piece.
Documented Origin
Age-certified Ancient Kauri from New Zealand
The piece is documented as a unique item, No. 150, and is accompanied by a scientific age certificate. The radiocarbon-dated sample indicates an age of 2995 ± 29 BP, corresponding to 1374–1123 B.C.
The ancient kauri slab was personally selected by Beaupoil in New Zealand and then crafted into a documented one-of-a-kind piece at the studio in Germany.

Selection and Origin
From New Zealand to the Studio
The ancient kauri slab used for the designer dining table was personally selected by Beaupoil in New Zealand. Even in its raw state, the slab’s exceptionally dense grain, amber-colored areas, and the visual impact it would eventually have were already apparent.
The photographs show the original formation in situ as well as its journey to Germany. They offer insight into part of the process underlying the Beaupoil works: the selection of a single ancient kauri formation and its subsequent refinement in the studio.
Architectural Context
Sculptural Table for Living Spaces, Gallery Interiors, and Executive Spaces
With its understated rectangular shape and exceptionally vibrant material texture, Unikat 150 exudes a distinct spatial presence and exclusivity. The piece is suitable as a sculptural table, a collector’s-grade dining table, or an executive table in serene architectural interiors and high-end living spaces.
The moisture-resistant surface and the replaceable stainless-steel frame were deliberately designed to be understated so that the subfossil root plate remains the focal point.
