One-of-a-Kind 190 – Collectible Dining Table with Prehistoric Amber Formations
Rarity due to overgrown amber landscapes and preserved bark formations
Unique Piece 190 was crafted from an 8-cm-thick, single-piece root slab featuring exceptionally large areas of amber and bark formations. Dark, ingrown bark zones, transparent resin pockets, and golden amber inclusions create a visual effect that is more reminiscent of geological structures or mineral veins than the classic image of a wooden table.

Gold-colored amber inclusions, transparent resin sections, and dark areas of ingrown bark are the hallmarks of this collectible piece of furniture.

Collectible Dining Table
A sculptural dining table that blends functional art with a collector's item
The natural arrangement of the root formation was deliberately preserved and was skillfully exposed and extended. The result is a Collectible Dining Table that highlights the connection between natural forms and functional art, and that fits seamlessly into both residential spaces and curated interior designs.

Material and Provenance
41,000-year-old material history with documented provenance
The 240 × 140 cm tabletop is made of prehistoric wood from New Zealand and has been dated to 41,000 years old through radiocarbon analysis. The documented provenance and the finite nature of the material make the piece a traceable collector’s item within the fields of Collectible Design and Contemporary Craft.

Amber and the Effect of Materials
Depth of the material based on amber formations and preserved bark zones
Gold-colored amber inclusions, transparent resin areas, and dark zones of ingrown bark run through the slab like natural mineral veins. This creates contrasts and a sense of depth that reveal ever-changing details depending on the light and viewing angle.
The combination of solid wood, amber, and fossilized bark creates a textural effect reminiscent of geological cross-sections, rock formations, or sedimentary layers formed over millennia, underscoring the work’s connection to functional art and collectible design.
Spatial Effect
Exclusivity through understated geometry and rich material depth
The clean, rectangular shape provides a serene backdrop for the slab’s extraordinary material qualities. As a result, the piece exudes a focused presence and continually draws the eye to new details and textures within its surface.
In spacious living spaces, exclusive gallery interiors, or private collections, this dining table creates a sculptural effect, its appearance constantly shifting with the play of daylight and perspective. The tabletop appears as a material landscape in its own right, with great visual depth and a quiet authority.
